The TCU track and field team will compete at two different invitationals this weekend. The throwing team will go to the Bobby Lane Invitational at UT-Arlington and the rest of the team will go to the Baylor Quad Invitational in Waco.
Head coach Darryl Anderson said the throwers decided to compete at UTA instead of Baylor because they feel more comfortable in Arlington and because the team has had more success at UTA in past competitions.
While the throwers will go to UTA with throw coach John Kenneson, the rest of the team and staff will go to Baylor with Anderson.
This weekend will mark the second outdoor meet of the season for the Horned Frogs. Last weekend, the team competed at home at the TCU Invitational.
“Our kids competed really well at home with the crowd,” Anderson said. “This weekend in particular will be our second weekend outdoor meet, so obviously we want to see some more progress.”
Anderson said the goals for the meet are to improve the team’s standings in the Big 12 rankings and get NCAA first round qualifying marks.
“We are using this week and the first couple of weekends to be ready for the Texas Relays because that, for all practical purposes, will be our first big meet,” Anderson said.
