After its first Big 12 Conference win in Stillwater, the TCU men’s tennis team continues play in the state of Okla. Sunday to take on No. 11-ranked Oklahoma University.
The Horned Frogs improved to 16-5 on the year after a 7-0 sweep against Oklahoma State University Friday. While the 14-5 Sooners also picked up their first Big 12 win 5-2 Friday again No. 16 Texas.
The Sooners currently have three of their players ranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in singles. Costin Paval is ranked No. 30, at the No. 51 spot is Guillermo Alcorta and finishing out at No. 61 is Dane Webb.
TCU had two players also in the ITA rankings, with sophomore Nick Chappell at 103 and sophomore Arnau Dachs No. 119. Dachs has won eight-straight matches this spring.
For the doubles point Sunday the ITA has sooner duo Costin Paval and Dane Webb ranked No. 29 to face off against the No. 79 doubles tandem Will Stein and Chappell at the No. 1 doubles court.
Richard Del Nunzio and Denys Pume are another Sooners’ pair aranked by the ITA in doubles at No. 70.
Head coach David Roditi has emphasized the how critical a win with the doubles point was for TCU to carry them into singles, and with three Sooner’s single players ranked and two doubles teams Roditi said a doubles win will be instrumental for the Frogs.
