The No. 7 TCU equestrian team enters the National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championships with Hunt Seat at the highest pre-tournament seed in program history.

The team enters at No. 5 in the discipline, 9-5 overall, with Western at No. 4 and 10-4 overall traveling to Waco.

The NCEA is divided into two disciplines, Hunt Seat and Western, each with its own bracket of 12 teams. A champion will be determined in each event, according to the NCEA website.

TCU will compete against overall No. 12 South Dakota State Thursday in Hunt Seat. The winner of that team will go on to face overall No. 4 Auburn Friday.

In Western, TCU will face the winner of overall No. 5 South Carolina and overall No. 12 New Mexico State Friday.

This would mark the seventh-straight year the Horned Frogs were invited to compete at the tournament.

“It will take everyone competing at their best to advance to the championship round,” Hunt Seat head coach Logan Fiorentino said. “We worked really hard to earn the No. 5 seed [in Hunt Seat] and will see some great teams throughout the tournament.”

In 2008, TCU captured the Western National Championship after a perfect 15-0 season.

In 2010, the overall team made program history by placing fourth in final team standings at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships.

The team also had six student athletes earn NCEA All-America accolades, the most All-America awards in a single season in school history. Sophomore Demi Stiegler claimed first-team honors in Equitation on the Flat.
