COVID-19 impacted Sharpe's first year, but he didn't let that hold him back from achieving so much as a Horned Frog.

TCU linebacker Joel Hasley has left the football team, head coach Gary Patterson said in a press release.

"[Hasley] decided it was time to move on from football," Patterson said in a statement. "We will miss him and we wish him the best."

According to the release, Hasley has already received his communication studies degree and will complete a second degree in geology later this year.

Hasley, a walk-on from Aledo, declined to an interview with TCU 360, deferring to TCU media relations for a statement.

TCU sports information director Mark Cohen responded to phone calls, and said the department stands by the press release.

Head coach Gary Patterson was unavailable at his office phone number.

Hasley played 12 games last season, starting in 10. He was second on the team with 79 tackles and 8.5 tackles-for-loss. The linebacker was at the top of the linebacker depth chart at the end of spring.

Hasley is the second Horned Frog to leave the team in fall camp. On Thursday, projected starting offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje left the program citing family issues.
