TCU track and field had seven first place finishes on day two of the TCU Invitational on Friday at the Lowdon Complex.

TCU head coach Darryl Anderson said that the TCU track and field team “had a good day” competing at home.

“I always think that we should be able to run well at home,” said Anderson. “You’re sleeping in your own bed Thursday night and you’re eating what you normally eat. Your routine shouldn’t be changed.”

TCU track and field’s seven first place finishes included:

Women Shot Put- 1, Megan Smith, 16.07 meters

Women 400- 1, Briyanni Thomas, 54.74 seconds

Women 1500- 1, Patricia Terry, 4:37.62 minutes

Women 4×100 relay- 1, TCU (Iphona Paiement, Sabrina Moore, Veronica Jones, Lorraine Ugen), 44.92 seconds

Men 400 Hurdles- 1, Lavon Collins, 53.56 seconds

Men Long Jump- 1, Ramone Bailey, 7.48 meters

Men 110 Hurdles- 1, Jordan Moore, 13.72 seconds.

TCU sophomore Sam Watts took fourth place in the men’s 200 meter dash with a time of 20.50 seconds. His teammate Cameron Echols-Luper took sixth place with a time of 20.61 and Ronnie Baker took seventh with a time of 20.72.

“We had a lot of good performances, especially in the men’s 200,” said Anderson. “We had four guys run under 21 seconds, which is really good to start the season.”

Trayvon Bromell, a freshman from Baylor University, took first place in the men’s 200 Meter Dash with a time of 20.23 seconds, which beat the Lowdon Complex record of 20.53, according to program records. Marvin Anderson set the record in 2007. Anderson’s time was matched in 2008 by Greg Nixon.

TCU men took third place in the men’s 4×100 meter relay with a time of 40.25 seconds. The team was comprised of Ramone Bailey, Sam Watts, Ronnie Baker, and Malik Summers. The TCU ‘B’ team took fourth place in the 4×100 relay with a time of 40.52. The ‘B’ team was made up of Kolby Listenbee, Cameron Echols-Luper, Lavon Collins and Michael Owusu-Peprah.

Baylor took first place in the Men’s 4×100 meter relay with a score of 39.48 seconds.

“I’ll always be disappointed when we don’t win the sprint relay on the men’s side,” Anderson said. “Baylor ran really well.”

The TCU track and field team has five members who also are on the TCU football team, according to gofrogs.com. Kolby Listenbee is a wide receiver for the Frogs. His teammates Cameron Echols-Luper, Deante’ Gray, and Jordan Moore also play wide receiver. Aviante Collins is an offensive tackle.

“The guys told me they weren’t practicing today,” said Anderson. “Earlier in the week they had said to me they were gonna run today and I said to them make sure you talk to Coach Patterson. Obviously, they talked to Coach Patterson and they were here running.”

Anderson said that the results from the invitational were neither above his expectations, nor below them.

“All in all: positive,” said Anderson. “Now the key is, can we do this kinda thing in practice and can we do this kinda thing away from home. That’s critical.”

The Horned Frogs compete next in the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 26 through March 29 in Austin, Texas.
