Filming for the movie My All American at TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium finishes up on Friday.

The sports drama, which stars Aaron Eckhart and Finn Wittrock, tells the tale of college football star Freddie Steinmark being diagnosed with cancer after the Texas Longhorns won the national title in 1969, according to IMDB.

Alcalde‘s Chris O’Connell wrote Steimark was “an undersized, scrappy player whose career was cut short when a routine visit to the hospital for a bone bruise—after the final game of that championship season—revealed a cancerous tumor, costing him his leg and soon after, his life.”

Wittrock plays Steinmark while Eckhart takes on the role of former UT coach and hall of famer Darrell K Royal.

Angelo Pizzo, who wrote classic sports films Rudy and Hoosiers, is directing the film. Former college football players Jordan Shipley and Kyle Padron are also involved as actors.

Filming began on Wednesday and concludes Friday.

The crew used the stadium as the home field for Texas Tech with a small number of extras playing cheerleaders, reporters and fans, according to Fort Worth-Star Telegram reporter Mac Engel.

One extra from Thursday’s filming said Eckhart is very much a “method” actor and didn’t once break character while shooting.

Below is a video from the Texas Longhorns’ official YouTube page on Steinmark’s legacy with the program.

An official release date for My All American is still yet to be determined.
