Musical instruments provided by the Rockley Foundation at no cost and used by Piano Texas International Academy & Festival and TCU’s School of Music in June will be sold to the public beginning July 4.

The annual sale will run July 4- July 6 in TCU’s Ed Landreth Hall at 2800 University Drive.

Tobin Rockley, founder of the Rockley Family Foundation, said the sale benefits TCU’s School of Music, Piano Texas and Fort Worth Independent School District.

“Our goal is to perpetuate the program,” he said. “The core value of the Rockley Foundation is to help support music education.”

Rockley said while there is no set discount on the instruments, "it is significant compared to retail, upwards to half off."

“A large selection of grands, baby grands, digital player grands, vertical (upright) pianos, digital pianos, orchestral strings and acoustic and electric guitars will be available,” a TCU School of Music news release said. “Most instruments are less than one-year old, include a factory warranty, are tuned and ready to go.”

The sale will feature instruments from many famous makers including Yamaha, Baldwin and Peavey as well as a discrete selection of vintage Steinway & Sons pianos, the release said. In most instances, a large part of sales may be considered a tax deductible charitable contribution to the Rockley Family Foundation. In addition, no-interest financing and delivery will be available during the sale.

Potential buyers, who schedule an appointment, can get first choice of the instruments during a pre-sale Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5. Those without an appointment can attend the final day of the sale between noon and 5 p.m. on Sunday, according to the release. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 817-257-5333.
 
The Rockley Family Foundation, which is based in Colorado, branched out after receiving calls from other states, Rockley said, and is currently very active in Texas.

“At this point, we are coast to coast,” he said.
