Sophomore defensive end Devonte Fields announced on his private Twitter account earlier today that he intends to transfer to Stephen F. Austin State University.

This news comes on the heels of a domestic dispute allegation that resulted in Fields turning himself into police and being separated from the university.

Fields posted a $3,500 bond after turning himself in to the Fort Worth Police Department.

The sophomore defensive end was named the preseason Big 12 defensive player of the year after being limited to just three games due to injury last season.

Fields’ tweet reads “Just wanted to say thanks to TCU for the opportunity! Anxious to start a new chapter of life at SFA!!.”

TCU officials said that all they can confirm at this time is that Fields remains separated from the university. Stephen F. Austin officials have no official statement at this time.

As of 11 a.m. on August 8th, Fields is till on the TCU roster.

If Fields does transfer to SFA, an FCS program, he should be eligible for the 2014 season.

TCU Football started training camp this past Monday. Fields was never in attendance.
