TheCrew, a Student Government Association organization, organizes a variety of events from life-sized Candy Land game nights to random water slides and bounce houses in the Campus Commons.

A fresh array of activities is in store for students this month. Erin Sovereign, leader of theCrew, said a few of the events that are coming up include laser tag in the Brown-Lupton University Union auditorium Wednesday, Sept. 17 and a hippie themed event on Thursday, Sept. 25.

“There will be tons of props like a VW bug so you can take a picture with that and a lot of lava lamps,Sovereign said.

Sovereign said theCrew usually has five events each week for the first two weeks of school. After that they are reduced to two or three a week to plan more efficiently. Leaders of theCrew meet every Monday to brainstorm ideas.

Brad Thompson, leader of student activities and head leader of theCrew, said that SGA is collaborating with the RU OK? campaign for suicide awareness and prevention. There will also be a swing dance event in two weeks.

Posters are placed around campus to inform students of upcoming programs.

Senior nursing major Jamie Dowd said she participates in the events theCrew hosts.

“I do like five or more events on a regular basis,” she said. “I actually come to a lot of them.”
