The Horned Frogs continued their fast start to the season by rolling to a 24-0 halftime lead over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Minnesota started on offense to begin the game and TCU’s Josh Carraway sacked Minnesota’s Mitch Leidner on third down to force a Golden Gopher punt.

TCU’s Echols-Luper returned Minnesota’s punt to the 18-yard line, where it took the Horned Frogs only 35 seconds to score their first touchdown of the day.

Quarterback Trevone Boykin lobbed a 13-yard fade route to junior wide receiver Josh Doctson that Doctson caught in the back corner of the end zone.

TCU kicker Jaden Oberkrom added a 46-yard field goal three minutes later to increase the lead to 10-0.

Horned Frog safety Sam Carter recorded his first interception of the year on Minnesota’s next drive, picking off Leidner. Carter’s 10 interceptions over the last three seasons are the most in the Big 12 in that span.

Minnesota and TCU would exchange a series of punts before the first quarter ended with TCU still leading 10-0.

On the first play of the second quarter, TCU safety Derrick Kindred picked off Leidner and returned it to the Minnesota 27-yard line.

Three plays later, Doctson caught his second touchdown of the day with a remarkable one-handed effort on another fade route.

TCU led 17-0 with 13:50 to play in the second quarter.

The Horned Frog defense would continue its dominance of the Golden Gopher offense on Minnesota’s next possession, with safety Chris Hackett nearly forcing another interception.

Bokyin threw an interception on TCU’s next possession, but senior TCU linebacker Paul Dawson would force and recover a fumble on the first play of the Golden Gophers’ next drive.

The Horned Frogs increased their lead to 24-0 when junior running back B.J. Catalon scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 9:01 remaining in the half.

Senior wide receiver David Porter fumbled inside the red zone on TCU’s last possession of the first half. Minnesota would run out the clock to end the half with a score of TCU 24, Minnesota 0.
