Football Defeats Oklahoma 37-33, cracks top 10 in AP poll

Paul Dawson’s 41-yard touchdown return on an interception in the fourth quarter was the game winner in a back-and-forth contest that left previously No. 4 Oklahoma stunned. Junior quarterback Trevone Boykin led the charge with 395 total yards and two touchdowns.

The win bumped TCU from No. 25 in the AP poll to No. 9. The Frogs sit at No. 12 in the coaches’ poll.

This was the first time since 1945 that the Frogs beat the Sooners in Fort Worth. TCU improved to 4-0 ahead of its Big 12 contest with Baylor next weekend. 

Volleyball wins over Baylor 3-1

The Frogs continued to show why they are at the top of the Big 12 in blocks with 12 more against the Bears in a 3-1 victory Saturday.

TCU took the last three sets of the match to improve to 2-2 in Big 12 play (12-6 overall).

Rifle wins season opener over Army

The TCU rifle team defeated Army 4,657-4,610 in its season opener on Saturday at the TCU Rifle Range. Sophomore Sally Li’s aggregate score of 1,173 was the highest on the team.

The Frogs secured their first win of the season with a 2,356-2,320 score in air rifle. Junior Hannah Black’s 594 mark in air rifle tied a personal best.

In her first collegiate match, freshman Ariana Grabowski contributed with a 583 in air rifle and a 579 in smallbore. Grabowski was the only shooter to notch a perfect 200 in the prone position.

The team’s next contest will be in West Virginia against the Mountaineers on Oct. 12.

Women’s cross country sets seven personal records at Chile Pepper Festival

Every member of the TCU women’s cross country team broke a personal record in the 5K run at the Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday in Arkansas. 

Freshman Bailey Sullivan led the team for the third straight meet by posting a 17:34.2 mark in the run. The time was nearly 34 seconds better than her previous best.

Freshman Matthew Brown led the men’s team in the 8K run with a time of 26:42.2.

Soccer ties Baylor 1-1

Eight saves from RS senior goalie Vittoria Arnold and a goal just before half time led the TCU women’s soccer team to a 1-1 tie against Baylor in Waco on Friday night.

Junior Makenzie Koch scored the team’s only goal in the 44th minute after the Baylor defense misplayed a feed from junior Bobbi Clemmer.

The Frogs are still looking for their first Big 12 win. They take on Oklahoma State on Friday in Oklahoma.

Women’s golf continues play at Schooner Fall Classic

TCU was tied for 15th place after the first day of play at the Schooner Fall Classic in Oklahoma. The Frogs collectively shot a 296.

Senior Alexandra Bonetti led the Frogs with a 73, good enough for a tie at 35th overall. Bonetti racked up three birdies on the day.

The Mississippi State team is in first overall after collectively shooting a 3-under 277. The competition will continue on Sunday.

Equestrian opens season 2-0

No. 7 TCU opened its season by defeating Delaware State 12-3 on Friday. The Frogs defeated Centenary and Ohio 10-4 later that day to improve to 2-0 on the season. 

Senior Calli Rouse collected the sixth MOP of her career when she defeated Lizzy Koons of Delaware State in Horsemanship 72-66. The Frogs took three of the four MOP accolades in the meet.

The Frogs’ next meet will be Oct. 24 at Baylor.
