The 109's top picks for Halloween weekend entertainment

Fort Worth offers many events for fun seekers this Halloween weekend, and here are the 109’s top three entertainment picks.

Our No. 1 pick is the Sundance Square Plaza one-year anniversary celebrations which begin at 10 a.m. and run until 7 p.m. Nov. 1.

Plaza spokesperson Anita Simmons said the free celebrations will be fun for the whole family and will include everything “from live music and comedy to jugglers, caricature drawings and balloon animals.”

Sundance Square Plaza has gained fame since it opened a year ago and has brought local, national and even some international attention to the city, Simmons said. Plus, downtown Fort Worth has been transformed.

“Where once just an empty, small, asphalt parking lot was, now is a beautiful, fun, tranquil gathering place,” she said.

This week’s second pick is the West Seventh Boo Bash, a family friendly event scheduled for 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 31 at West Seventh Street. The event will also include a Halloween costume contest.

“The costume contest is mainly geared towards younger children” said Angela Hall, director of marketing.

According to the event’s Facebook page, contest prizes will vary from a family four pack of tickets to Yo Gabba Gabba to a pair of tickets to KISS FM’s Jingle Ball.

“In addition to the children friendly activities, there is also a pub crawl,” Hall said.

Terra Mediterranean Grill, Rafain Brazilian Steakhouse, Brewsters, Bar Louie, and Hacienda San Miguel will all participate in the pub crawl, according to

For those bored with Halloween-themed activities, the 109’s third pick for the week is bull riding scheduled for 9 p.m. Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Billy Bob’s Texas.

According to, bull riding is a dangerous sport, and the club has specific requirements for event participants.  The cost to watch the live bull riding show at Billy Bob’s is $3 in addition to the concert ticket price.
