Free holiday shuttle services returning to campus

Last year, Student Government Association offered a complimentary shuttle service for the Thanksgiving holiday break, and it will return this year.

According to an email sent out to all TCU students by SGA, pre-reserved tickets will be required to get on board although the service is free to all undergraduate students.

To reserve a seat, there is designated website students must visit where they choose the shuttle time that best suits their needs. A confirmation email will then be sent which contains the ticket.

“Last year was so successful that buses filled up before all students were able to board, so this year we began using a reservation system and almost tripled the number of shuttle seats we are offering,” said Student Body President of External Affairs and junior political science major Maddie Reddick.

The shuttles are available to take students to and from DFW airport, but two separate reservations must be made; one on Tuesday or Wednesday and another for Sunday.

Students with special needs will also be provided with buses to accommodate them. Other students are not allowed to purchase those tickets.

Junior communications major Allie Lafitte said she usually catches a ride with a friend to the airport or her mom will send a driver to pick her up but she would definitely consider taking the shuttle.

“I’m from California and I have friends that live out of state as well who have used the shuttle service before and said they really enjoyed it,” said Lafitte.

Lafitte also said the variety of times that are available to choose from also make it really accessible to everyone’s schedules and class times.

SGA has never offered shuttles for winter break, but they are considering doing so this year because of demand. Students are encouraged to fill out a survey so the levels of interest can be reviewed for further decision-making.

Reservations should be made by noon on Monday Nov. 24. No more reservations will be accepted after this time.

Buses will depart from the Brown Lupton University Union circle drive, and students should also plan to arrive 15 minutes early to the shuttles in order to check in and board on time.
