Junior safety Chris Hackett will forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft this spring.

“Coming to TCU was an incredible opportunity that I will always cherish,” Hackett wrote in a statement. “I’ve dreamed of playing in the NFL for as long as I can remember, and I am ready to move on to the next stage.”

Hackett led TCU and the Big 12 with seven interceptions this past season, including a pick on the first Ole Miss drive of the Peach Bowl.

He was selected to the All Big-12 first team and finished with 75 tackles on the season.

Hackett was expected to lead a 2015 TCU defense that already loses senior contributors Chucky Hunter, Paul Dawson, Marcus Mallet, Sam Carter and Kevin White.

The junior finished his statement by thanking head coach Gary Patterson and his coaching staff for helping him grow as a player and a person.

“My time at TCU was extremely rewarding both on and off the field. I am and will always be a Horned Frog,” Hackett wrote.
