The No. 1 TCU baseball team won its first Big 12 matchup of the season 3-1 against Baylor on Saturday at Lupton Stadium.

Starting pitcher Mitchell Traver improved to 3-0 on the season after tossing seven innings of one-run ball. Traver struck out seven and gave up only four hits and a walk. A home run off the bat of Baylor’s Aaron Dodson was the only blemish on Traver’s night.

The Frogs scored two in the third and one in the sixth. Outfielder Cody Jones notched four hits and an RBI single. Third baseman Derek Odell and shortstop Keaton Jones also pitched in for RBI’s in TCU’s 10-hit performance.

Junior Riley Ferrell pitched a perfect ninth inning to tally his sixth save of the season.

Senior Preston Morrison will start on the mound for the Frogs’ second of three games against the Bears. The game will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Lupton Stadium and will be broadcasted on FSSW+.
