Frogs beat WVU for Schlossnagles 500th win
Starting pitcher Tyler Alexander’s career-high 8 1/3 innings led the Frogs to a 9-4 win over West Virginia on Friday to notch head coach Jim Schlossnagle’s 500th win at TCU.

Alexander (4-2) gave up four runs in the outing, but the Frogs gave him plenty of offensive support. The Frogs took a 3-0 lead after the second inning, and third baseman Derek Odell’s first home run of the season gave the Frogs a 4-1 lead in the fourth. TCU later scored five runs in the eighth inning.

Alexander was pulled in the ninth after giving up three runs. Preston Guillory then took over on the mound and closed out the game for TCU.

The Frogs are now 35-9 on the season. Game two of the series against the Mountaineers begins at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday in West Virginia.
