After months of record-breaking temperatures, Fort Worth Fashion Week is celebrating the Last Days of Summer.

The third annual week of fashion shows features a diverse collection of Fort Worth designers and clothing genres. The festivities began Monday night at the House of Neville, a new venue located on Camp Bowie Boulevard.

The six days of shows focus on smaller brands growing in Fort Worth, as well as designs from iconic companies like Nike and Dickies that help represent the culture and fashion of Texas in the summertime. The different shows bring together eclectic styles and communities from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

One opening night attendee, Sylvia Stiver, said she traveled from New York after receiving an invite from a local designer participating in the week.

“I love to see the way Fort Worth embraces different cultures and styles,” Stiver said.“It’s refreshing to get away from the hype of fashion weeks in New York and Los Angeles and embrace the Southern style.”

Lynne and Phillip Maximillian, the creatives behind opening night, showcased their new line featuring Mener Grand Train Company. The collection ties together Asian and Western cultures through color and sparkle.

Fort Worth Fashion Week partnered with the Fort Worth Independent School District and the TCU Department of Fine Arts Fashion Merchandising Program. TCU students are given the opportunity to volunteer at the shows to gain insight from industry professionals.

“We love working with students from TCU,”  Evan Anderson, the show’s emcee, said. Anderson, an NBC5 DFW news anchor, has served as host for the last two years.

Tuesday features the John Wayne Stock Supply show in the Stockyards at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.
