TCU men’s tennis aims to qualify more Horned Frogs for November’s NCAA Individual Championships at the ITA Texas Regional Tournament.

Beginning Thursday, Oct. 17, in Waco, Texas, Baylor University will host 110 Division I players from across the state, including top athletes from Texas A&M, UT Austin and Texas Tech.

Four TCU players, Julian Alonso, Filip Apltauer, Duncan Chan and Kaj Quirijins, will compete in the main singles draw. In doubles, Chan and Quirijins will make their debut as a pair, while Alonso and Apltauer will team up to challenge the competitive field.

To earn a spot at the NCAA Individual Championships, the Frogs must either reach the singles finals or finish first in the doubles bracket.

The ITA Texas Regional provides a platform for TCU’s players to continue their strong tradition of success in national tennis competitions. Last year, the Horned Frogs dominated the regional tournament.

TCU claimed both the singles and doubles titles, with Pedro Vives and Sebastian Gorzny winning the doubles final over teammates Chan and Lui Maxted. Vives followed up this victory by securing the singles title the next day, further solidifying TCU’s reputation on the national stage.

The ITA Texas Regional Tournament will run from Thursday to Tuesday with singles matches following a best-of-three tiebreak set format. In the doubles bracket, matches up to the quarterfinals will be played as 8-game pro sets with a 10-point tiebreaker if the score is tied at 7-all. Semifinals and finals will be contested using a best-of-three tiebreak set format, with a 10-point tiebreaker if necessary.

Fans can follow the action with live streaming on Baylor’s Tennis Playsight, as well as live stats provided by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Matches are scheduled to begin each day at 8 a.m. CDT, with TCU hoping to advance to the ITA National Fall Championships in November.
