The Horned Frog football team expected senior tailback Aaron Brown to be a big part of its offense this season. So far, he has yet to see any game action because of a violation of university policy prior to a season-opening 26-3 win over the New Mexico Lobos.
Redshirt freshman safety Sir Demarco Bledsoe also did not make the trip to New Mexico for the same reason, according to athletics media relations director Mark Cohen.
Cohen declined to comment on the situation.
“You’ll see him when you see him,” head coach Gary Patterson said Tuesday about Brown. “He’s such a playmaker that if he does play, I don’t want other teams to be able to game plan for him.”
Going into last season, Brown was the preseason choice for Mountain West Conference Player of the Year. He rushed for 1,559 yards and 15 touchdowns from his freshman year to the end of his sophomore season, but struggled through an injury-plagued 2007 season where he tallied only 106 carries for 490 yards.
Without Brown, the Frogs ran for 171 yards on 48 carries while using six different rushers against the Lobos.
