Now that TCU has accepted the invitation from the Big 12 they could inherit a schedule of one of the two members that may leave the conference. Missouri University is rumored to leave the Big 12 next season and Texas A&M has decided to join SEC. If TCU is not placed into one of the open spots, next year’s schedule could change for all Big 12 members.

Most of the Big 12 teams have their games set in advanced and the easiest thing might be for TCU to take over A&M or Mizzou’s schedule.

Rumors of these possibilities have reached many sport sites and at least one news source considered the schedule swap.

TCU’s potential match-ups with A&M’s schedule

The potential schedule would include a week two conference game against Texas Tech at the Amon G. Carter stadium. Tech has backed out of games with TCU for the past two years with the last game played in Sept. 2006 when Tech lost 12-3.

The schedule would also include a week three conference match-up with Baylor University in Waco. After the disappointing loss 50-48 this year in Waco, the potential game next year would be sure to ignite the rivalry again.

TCU would also face Oklahoma University at home in the sixth week of conference play. TCU last played OU in Norman in 2008, when the Frogs lost to the Sooners 35-10. TCU is currently scheduled to play OU for the 2012 season in a non-conference game.

The University of Texas game would be played during the Thanksgiving weekend of 2012, a spot that normally is held for the A&M and UT rivalry. TCU last played UT in Austin in 2007 when the Longhorns won 34-14.

Missouri University

Missouri University did not take part in the vote to offer an invitation to TCU on the advice of their attorneys according to Interim Commissioner Chuck Neinas for the Big 12. If Mizzou were to leave then TCU would be the 9th school in the Big 12 conference, if they accept.

TCU could then potentially inherit Mizzou’s schedule for next fall. The schedule would include a home game against OU and Baylor and an away game against Texas Tech.
