Several Horned Frogs competed in the Olympic trials in the last few weeks.
Sarah Scherer
Senior Sarah Scherer will compete in the 2012 Olympics in the women's 10 meter air rifle event. Scherer is a NCAA Champion with many rifle honors as a part of TCU’s rifle team.
Edgar Crespo
TCU's Edgar Crespo will swim for Panama in the Olympics this summer. He will compete in the men's 100 meter breaststroke.
Whitney Gipson
TCU graudate Whitney Gipson missed the Olypmics mark by 3 and a half inches with a 22 feet, 10 and a half inches jump putting her in fourth place.
Justyn Warner
TCU graduate Justyn Warner will compete in London for Canada in the men's 100 meters. He placed first overall in the men's 100 meters at the Canadian Track and Field Championships. His time was 10.15 seconds.
Cooper Robinson and Josh Mangus
Freshmen Cooper Robinson and Josh Mangus placed 51st and 63rd respectively in the 200 back. Robinson's swim time was 2:04.18 and Mangus' was 2:04.90.
Alejandro Gomez
TCU graudate Alejandro Gomez will swim for Venezuela in the Olympics this summer. He swam the men's 1500 meter free style in 15:24.29 placing third.
Jessica Young
Also, senior Jessica Young competed in the women's 100 meters on Thursday. She placed last in her heat at 23.69 seconds which was not enough to make the cut.
Khadevis Robinson
TCU graduate Khadevis Robinson earned a place on the U.S. team for the London Games with a time of 1:44.64 as a runner-up in finals of the men’s 800 meters. He previously placed first overall with a time of 1:45.83 in the semifinals of the men's 800 meters.
Charles Silmon
Junior Charles Silmon made it to the semifinals of the men’s 100 meters. Silmon placed fifth in his heat and didn’t qualify for the finals as only the top two from each heat did.
Lorraine Ugen
Freshman Lorraine Ugen earned runner-up accolades with a 22 feet 1 and a half inches jump in the women’s long jump on Sunday at the 2012 Aviva Olympic Trials. She was one centimeter shy of the Olympic ‘A’ standard, which means she had a week to solidify her spot for the 2012 Olympic Summer Games. She will not compete in the Olympics this year.
