Students have to move their cars from lots near Amon G. Carter Stadium the Friday before every home game to make room for incoming fans.
“We all wanted to be part of a big conference, a big program and this responsibility comes with that privilege,” Director of TCU Frog Club Jeremiah Donati said.
Students have to move their cars from Lot 5, 3, 4, 7, the spaces on West Cantey Street and Brachman Lot to the Sandage, Lubbock, or any designated east campus lot. Cars need to be moved by 8 p.m. each Friday before a home game.
There are around 600 spaces in Lot 5 (freshman lot) that did not have to be cleared previous seasons, he said. There will be a shuttle service to and from the lots for students to use.
“There are so many cars potentially that would need to be towed because that lot is so big and that’s why we’re trying to incentivize them,” Donati said
TCU Athletics will give away 12 prizes after each game to students who moved their car to the designated lots, he said. The prizes include iPods, iPads, Frog Bucks and Barnes & Noble gift cards.
The cars that are not moved will be towed, marked and the owners will not be eligible for a prize, Donati said.
“I don’t even care really about prizes,” first year nutritional science major Audrey Trimble said. “I would rather leave my car [in the lot] than getting it over there and maybe getting a prize.”
Some students do not mind the extra amount of fans ready to see the Horned Frogs go into their inaugural Big 12 season.
“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal,” first year pre-major Harrison Graham said. “That obviously means there’s more fans inside the stadium from outside of TCU.”
Either way, the lots near the stadium will be cleared by game day.
