The TCU's men's club soccer team is now 1-1-0 in the Lonestar conference and 2-1-0 overall after the Horned Frogs' defeated UTSA Roadrunners 1-0 Saturday.
The Roadrunners set a fast pace at the kickoff and put pressure on the Frogs' defense throughout the game. The Frogs quickly adjusted to the speed and were able to keep the Roadrunners from scoring.
Saturday's game was much more aggressive than the team's season opener against UT-Dallas last weekend. In the 59th minute, the UTSA team received a yellow card after one of its players tackled TCU's Kendall Rockers.
Michael Offutt scored what would have been a second goal for the Frogs off a crossover pass made by Matt Eckart in the 52nd minute. The goal was later nullified after Offutt and Eckart were called for offsides.
Head Coach Kenneth Christensen said the calls made in Saturday's game did not negatively impact the game or the Frogs' chances at goals.
Although he said the team deserved Saturday's win, Christensen also said he believed the Frogs should have scored more.
"If there's something that we could do better, it would be our finishing," Christensen said. "Converting chances into goals."
The Frogs' sole goal came in the 36th minute by Mason Suess after the Roadrunner's keeper lost sight of the ball.
The Frogs play the SMU Mustangs Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. on the intramural field.
