Frogs for the Cure and the Texas Rangers are teaming up to collect money and raise breast cancer awareness during "Susan G. Komen Night at the Ballpark" on Friday.
A percentage of all the ticket money made will be donated to the Susan G. Komen foundation. For each $8 ticket purchase, the Rangers will donate $2 to the Komen foundation. A $27 ticket will result in an $8 donation.
Tickets will be available for $8 in the upper deck of the TCU section and $27 in the corner box field section. The regular price for these tickets is $15 and $43.
In addition, Super Frog and the TCU Cheerleaders will be in the upper deck of the TCU section. American Idol finalist and alumnus Tim Halperin, will perform the national anthem.
“There is a series of events throughout the year that we plan to promote to help create awareness as well as provide opportunity for students to get involved,” said Ann Louden, second year chair of Frogs for the Cure.
Louden also said Frogs for the Cure t-shirts are available in the TCU Bookstore for $12. Three dollars from every shirt purchase will be donated to the Komen foundation.
As of Wednesday of this week, 2,300 of the 4,700 shirts created for the event were sold, according to Llisa Lewis, general manager of TCU Barnes & Noble Bookstore.
“This is an excellent cause and opportunity to stand up and make a difference," Lewis said. "Everyone should do their part, if possible, to help fight.”
Louden said she encouraged the university community to attend the game and make a difference in the process.
“Support the cause, and support the Rangers in the last week of regular season play before the playoffs,” Louden said.
The Rangers will face off against the Los Angeles Angels Friday at 7 p.m.
