TCU started the game putting numbers on the board when quarterback Trevone Boykin completed a 19-yard pass to senior wide receiver Skye Dawson with 12:37 left in the first quarter. 

Texas Tech quarterback Seth Doege cut the Horned Frog lead after completing a 6-yard pass to wide receiver Eric Ward for a touchdown with five minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Freshman kicker Jaden Oberkrom’s 37-yard field goal put the Frogs back up 10-7 in the first quarter. Senior Matthew Tucker found his way into the end zone eight minutes into the second quarter, extending the TCU lead 17-7.

The Raiders answered with Doege’s 33-yard pass to wide receiver Darrin Moore, making the score 17-14 in the second quarter. Doege helped the Red Raiders take the lead with a touchdown pass to Eric Ward after Texas Tech recovered an onside kick.

At the end of the first half, Texas Tech leads TCU 21-20.

Boykin ended the first half with 11 completions. Dawson had five receptions, 89 yards and a touchdown.
