Student Body Treasuer candidate Cody Westphal said he wants to give students a bigger voice in how the Student Government Association spends money.
“I think one of my jobs is to let everyone know how we’re spending it and then say how do you want to spend it,” the sophomore business major said. “I’m gonna try my best to get that done.”
Westphal said he will set up tables, send out emails and talk to students in person to get students' opinions about the way money should be spent.
“You have to take kind of a holistic approach and just elicit feedback in any way possible,” he said. “Hopefully that feedback will be sincere and that’s why I hope to talk to as many people as I possibly can just person to person.”
SGA has close to $700,000 dollars to spend, which includes money collected from the $45 per semester student fee.
Westphal worked on the Finance Committee this semester and with the Activities Funding Board, which allocates money to student organizations. He also served in the House of Representatives for two semesters.
