TCU’s football game Saturday against Kansas State will be the eighth annual Frogs for the Cure game and is being labeled a “Black Out for Cancer” game. 

According to a press release, game day activities supporting Frogs for the Cure will include a halftime tribute featuring breast cancer survivors, healthcare professionals from game sponsor Baylor All Saints and the Joan Katz Breast Center and members of the TCU community.

The tribute will also feature Horned Frog alumnus and Susan G. Komen National Partner Tim Halperin, as well as the unveiling of the “Cross That Line” video filmed Sept. 30. Halperin teamed with Frogs for the Cure Chair and cancer survivor Ann Louden in the production of the video, which involved over 1,000 participants, according to the press release.

Louden was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2006. Since her diagnosis, more than 85 volunteers have joined the effort to involve the university in Frogs for the Cure.

“Our mission is to educate the next generation of students about what they can do to make a difference,” Louden said in the release. 

The Greater Fort Worth Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure will host a game watching party for survivors and their families at the Brown-Lupton University Union. 

The news release said fans are encouraged to buy and wear this year’s black “Cross That Line” Frogs for the Cure t-shirt to “black out” the stadium. The t-shirt is available at TCU’s Barnes & Noble Bookstore and proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure in the fight against breast cancer.

The Frogs have won all seven Frogs for the Cure games, including BYU at Cowboys Stadium in 2011 and ESPN’s College GameDay matchup against Utah in 2009. Saturday’s kickoff against No. 2 Kansas State is scheduled for 6 p.m.
