A Sam Carter interception rejuvenated a TCU team which hadn’t crossed the 50-yard line until 3:46 left in the half, but a Jalen Saunders 24-yard touchdown reception gave Oklahoma the advantage going into halftime, 14-7.
Oklahoma responded back with a 75-yard drive, culminating in a 24-yard touchdown pass from Jones to Saunders.
Oklahoma’s first offensive touchdown came after the Sooners put together a drive based on bad TCU plays. A shanked punt by Ethan Perry put the Sooners on their 44-yard line and a pass interference call against Chris Hackett helped set up an 11-yard touchdown pass to Damien Williams.
TCU has been struggling heavily on offensive production. The Horned Frogs have only 78 yards of total offense and is 3-9 on third down attempts. Quarterback Trevone Boykin is 5-11 on pass attempts, with many deep passes missing receivers by overthrowing them.
TCU head coach Gary Patterson said earlier this week in his press conference that Boykin is still banged up from the Kansas State game, in which Boykin left part of the game with an undisclosed shoulder injury. Boykin had nine pass attempts against the Texas Longhorns, his lowest number of attempts in the season.
Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones has also seen some inaccurate pass attempts, but has found the end zone twice, and has passed for 153 yards. He is 14-23 on pass attempts with a long of 24 yards.
Oklahoma has a total of 209 yards of offense, with 56 yards of rushing. Clay Brennan is the Sooners’ leading rusher, with 38 yards on 4 attempts.
