The Horned Frog volleyball team will continue its conference play when Air Force and New Mexico come to town this weekend.Friday, the team will play Air Force, whose current record is 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the Mountain West Conference.

The Frogs face New Mexico, which is 9-5 overall and 1-3 in conference, Saturday. The match is at 7 p.m. at the University Recreation Center.

Junior outside hitter Calli Corley said she has high hopes for the team and herself this weekend, as well as this season.

“My personal goals for the season are to pass better so we can run a quicker offense,” Corley said. “I play back row, so I need to get more digs so we can keep the other team from scoring points.

“We are looking to become a stronger team. I think we can be a top competitor in the conference, so we’re looking to improve every day so we can get to that level.”

Corley said she hopes the team will come to play against its competition this weekend.

“They are very strong teams,” she said, “and I think we can win if we play how we know how to play.”

Senior middle blocker Erin Estep said she hopes to top last year’s team, which had a record-setting year.

“My personal goals tie in with my team goals,” Estep said. “Every year so far at TCU, we improved upon each season. The past two seasons, we had the most wins in TCU history, and I hope to top that again.”

Head coach Prentice Lewis said she wants to win these crucial conference weekend matches.

“We hope we win,” Lewis said. “I think we will play very competitive, and we are excited.”

Lewis said she hopes the week’s preparation will reap a win for her eager team.

“I hope we play consistent and I think we prepared all week, and I hope our A game comes out.”

The Horned Frogs are 10-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

Friday’s match is at 7 p.m and will mark the first ever Mountain West match played at the Rec Center.

The match against New Mexico on Saturday will be free to the general public, and a free clinic will be held prior to the match.
