Four volleyball players were suspended from the team matches last week, but neither the head coach nor the media relations spokesperson would say Monday whom the players are or what they are suspended for. The penalized players did not play in Friday’s home game against San Diego State, said TCU volleyball head coach Prentice Lewis.

Neither Timothy Love, athletics media relations graduate assistant, nor media relations director Mark Cohen answered questions on the circumstances or length of the suspensions.

“These situations are internal affairs,” Cohen said. “We can’t get into identifying specifics.”

Love said the four players “missed some time, but they are back now.”

Cohen said he would have to speak to head coach Lewis to get the details about the suspension but had no information as of Monday afternoon.

The players left town Monday for their matches against Colorado State and Wyoming today and Wednesday. Efforts were made to contact players early Monday, but none were successful.

Loren Barry, a sophomore setter, and Talaya Whitfield, a sophomore outside hitter, missed Friday’s match after playing in TCU’s five previous matches. They were back on the court Saturday.

Senior Hayley Harmon, a middle blocker and outside hitter, also played five consecutive matches before this weekend, but missed both weekend matches.

Calli Corley, a junior outside hitter, returned to the court Saturday after a four-game absence for an unknown reason.

The team lost both matches last weekend and is in eighth place with a 3-11 record in the Mountain West Conference. The Frogs are 15-15 overall.
