Instead of raising money for the university or erecting a monument, the class of 2007 is building a home for Habitat for Humanity.The class of 2007’s project is FrogHouse, for which they are fundraising, organizing and will build a house for Habitat for Humanity, said Matt Owens, FrogHouse fundraising director.

Luda Chuba, director of FrogHouse recruitment and retention, said FrogHouse will become a lasting tradition at TCU.

“It’s so fascinating to be a part of something so wonderful,” said Chuba, a junior political science and history major.

The junior class has already raised a little more than half the $51,500 needed to build the home, said Owens, a junior Spanish and international politics major.

FrogHouse needs to raise the money by Dec. 1 in order to begin the six-week building project in January, Owens said.

“If every student, faculty and staff member donates $4, we will exceed our goal,” said Owens.

Chuba said the biggest problem with fundraising has been getting students to donate money.

“A lot of them don’t carry cash,” she said.

The students will be collecting money through Friday at Mary Couts Burnett Library, Jazzman’s Cafe, Sub Connection, Pond St. Grill and on the patio between Reed and Sadler Halls.
