TCU football recruitment is gearing up for the 2006 season with three recent high school commitments.Jimmy Young, a wide receiver from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, La.; Wayne Daniels, a defensive end from Kilgore High School; and Clarence Leatch, a defensive end from Tatum High School, have all made verbal commitments within the past week to attend and play football at TCU.

According to NCAA rules, head coach Gary Patterson is currently barred from commenting on the Horned Frogs’ recruitment progress.

“Nothing can be said on recruits by coaches until signing day on Feb. 1,” said Mark Cohen, director of media relations.

All three recruits chose to come to TCU following their visits to campus Jan. 20, although two had previously committed elsewhere.

Daniels had been originally committed to Kansas State but chose to come to TCU instead.

“Wayne has liked TCU all along,” said Mike Vallery, head coach at Kilgore High School. “Nick Sanders, a recruit last year, played with Wayne for two years, and TCU is closer to home than many of the other schools.”

Young had been committed to Louisiana Tech, but John Carr, head coach at Ouachita Parish High School, said he felt that TCU’s recruitment was what swayed Young toward the Horned Frogs.

“He felt a real sense of home,” Carr said. “They showed him what TCU was really about without any negative recruitment.
