The TCU Ranch Management program will kick off its annual Roundup event with a seminar, clay-shooting contest and an auction to raise money for scholarships for the Ranch Management program.Bryan Vasseur, interim director of the Ranch Management, said the event gives the program’s alumni a chance to come back to TCU for the weekend to see former classmates and meet with current students.

Vasseur said in former years, the program has raised $10 thousand to $15 thousand at the auction event to be applied to Ranch Management scholarships.

“We auction things off that have been donated to us like saddles and horses,” Vasseur said.

Brad Rice, a Ranch Management student, said he thinks Roundup is important because it brings students together with the alumni to network and help each other out.

Joby Rickman, a Ranch Management student, said he is looking forward to meeting people in the industry and draw from thier experiences.

Kerry Cornelius, Ranch Management associate director, said the Roundup will kickoff with two experts from the Texas Agricultural Extension conducting a seminar on brush control and fire prevention.

Skyler Flake, a Ranch Management student, said, “I look forward to listening to the speakers because they will inform the students and alumni of new research material from the past five years.”

A public clay-shooting tournament at Rock Creek Range in Joshua will follow the seminar.

The final event of the evening will be dinner at the Holiday Inn South and an auction, which will give alumni the chance to raise money for the Ranch Management program.

The dinner and auction is reserved for Ranch Management students and alumni only.
