The women’s golf team, having already completed a portion of its season, is ready to move to the culmination of the year’s efforts. Head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin said the team is looking forward to the new semester.
“Going into the spring, we are coming off some good momentum from our tournaments in the fall,” Ravaioli-Larkin said. “Everybody is confident and feelings for the spring are really high. I think we are expecting some great things for ourselves, concentrating on what we are capable of doing.”
Ravaioli-Larkin said the team’s strength is the short game, or putting and chipping, and her players are trying to qualify for the top spots.
Junior Catherine Matranga said the team has already learned to work together.
“We had some good things happen,” Matranga said. “We all work really well together. Team chemistry helps on the golf course.”
Like every other TCU team, the women’s golf squad moved to the Mountain West Conference at the beginning of last season. Ravaioli-Larkin said TCU’s conference schedule is not changed by the move to the Mountain West, but the conference tournament will be stronger. The Frogs’ move to the MWC also improves the make of the conference as a whole.
“(Other MWC coaches) are really excited about having us in, because it makes the conference really strong,” Ravaioli-Larkin said. “It steps it up a notch, where we’re at the next level. We’re at the Pacific-10 level as far as the conference as a whole, we’re at the Big 12 level.
