The Lady Frogs’ shooting against San Diego State was not cold like the blistery weather in Fort Worth Saturday night. TCU had five players in double figures for the first time this season in an 80-39 victory over the Aztecs. Sophomore Adrianne Ross led the way with 16 points.

TCU now leads the series with the San Diego State 4-2 and has improved to 14-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

The Aztecs (3-20, 0-13) started the game quickly with a three-pointer by freshman Shanna Demus, but the Frogs soon caught up and never looked back.

Head coach Jeff Mittie said he thought the Aztecs came out strong, but as the game wore on the Frogs were able to establish more of an inside game.

Mittie said he has been impressed with the play of red-shirt freshman Marissa Rivera lately.

Rivera shot 5-8 from the field, scoring a season-high 10 points.

“I thought Marissa played real well when we needed her to play real well,” Mittie said.

Mittie said he also thinks Rivera does an excellent job of getting the ball to people that are open.

“Those are areas she is becoming more a part of the offense than just if she scores,” Mittie said.

Mittie and her teammates have noticed it in practice as well.

“It’s just been flowing for me lately,” Rivera said.

The next game for the Frogs is 7 p.m. against Colorado State at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
