Dean makes plans for new AddRan building

The dean of AddRan College of Humanities and Social Sciences said he will rely on his prior experiences when working to raise funds for a new facility for the college. Dean Andrew Schoolmaster, who served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University before coming to TCU, said the placement, cost and estimated completion date for the new building will be decided later.

Jodi Campbell, associate professor of history, said the department is in need of a new building.

“We are painfully short on classrooms,” Campbell said. “I’m all for his plans to create a new building.”

Schoolmaster said he brings his experience and achievements as an administrator in higher education to the TCU community.

“Dean Schoolmaster has experience with building projects so it’s good that he’s involved,” said David Grant, chair of the religion department.

Schoolmaster said as a dean at EKU he was an advocate for students, faculty and staff.

“I accepted the offer to join TCU because of this school’s past, present and future,” Schoolmaster said. “TCU is well-established with an excellent reputation and has a very dedicated and talented faulty and staff. It also has strong leadership in key positions and there is a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
