The volleyball team’s win against San Diego State was the result of hard work following a loss to UNLV, the head coach said. The Horned Frogs rebounded to split home matches Friday and Saturday against Mountain West Conference opponents UNLV and San Diego State to move the record to 17-7 on the season and 4-4 in conference play.

After losing in three games (19-30, 29-31, 18-30) to the Rebels on Friday, the team came back Saturday to win in five games against the Aztecs (30-28, 30-18, 26-30, 26-30, 15-12).

Head coach Prentice Lewis said the Frogs showed a different mentality during Saturday’s victory.

“I thought our kids played hard tonight,” Lewis said. “We did not do it last night at all. We did it tonight.”

On Friday, sophomore middle blocker Kourtney Edwards led the team with nine blocks, while senior libero Calli Corley topped the team with 27 digs, bringing her career total to 1,274.

Freshman outside hitter Irene Hester totaled 10 kills and 11 digs Friday for her first career double-double as a Horned Frog.
