Rifle: Frogs look to beat Ole Miss

Rifle: Frogs look to beat Ole Miss

The rifle team will look to build on a strong finish at the Ole Miss Invitational when it travels to Nevada to take on the Wolfpack this weekend. The Horned Frogs took second place last weekend, with three shooters ranking in the top 10 and finishing 16 points shy of Jacksonville State, who took away the victory over the five-team field.

Sophomore Erin Lorenzen led the way for TCU, finishing third in air rifle and fifth in smallbore competition. Sophomore Emily Paper took fourth in both smallbore and air rifle competition, contributing to the silver finish for the Horned Frogs. Sophomore Simone Riford rounded out the top 10, finishing ninth in both smallbore and air rifle competition.

Nevada comes into the competition with three straight victories over UTEP after finishing second to TCU in the Horned Frog Invitational. The Wolfpack was knocked out of the NCAA Qualifiers last year after the Horned Frogs won 4625-4607 last February.

Senior Meghann Morrill leads the Wolfpack with an aggregate season score of 4628 in four competitions. Senior Lee Lemenager also is near the top of the Nevada ranks and has a season score of 4595.

TCU will travel to Reno with an 0-1 record in dual competition. Though the one dual loss came in a match against Jacksonville State on Oct. 5, the team has had some success winning the Horned Frog Invitational along with their silver medal at Ole Miss.

The Horned Frogs will face Alaska on Wednesday in Fort Worth before traveling to Army on Nov. 10.
