The men’s basketball team is set to take on the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels on Saturday after a 70-58 win over UT-Pan American on Wednesday night.
Sophomore guard Ronnie Moss said playing a non-conference game midweek helped get the team going again in preparation for the UNLV conference game.
“This is like practice,” he said. “Just [getting] closer with the teammates and [learning] how to play with them.”
In the recent win against the UT-Pan American, Moss went for double digits in both points scored with 15, and assists with 11.
The Frogs played UNLV twice last year, winning the game at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum by 7 points before losing 71-57 in Las Vegas.
“They have a lot of weapons on their offensive end,” Moss said. “This will be a good game for our guards to defend and handle the ball well under pressure.”
The win last year was the first time TCU beat UNLV since February 1999.
Head coach Jim Christian said winning home games is important to keep up in the Mountain West standings.
“It’s very difficult to get wins on the road in this league, so you have to protect your home court,” Christian said. “We’ve got two days to prepare for it. It’s going to be pretty intense.”
