BYU (28-4, 13-3) won a lopsided contest against the Horned Frogs (13-18, 5-11) Saturday night 107-77.

The Cougars withstood an 18-4 run early in the game by the Frogs to pull out their single season record twenty-eighth win.

TCU head coach Jim Christian said the first five minutes was complete execution by the Frogs.

“We were playing the right way. We guarded the basketball right. Moved the ball. Rebounding the ball and then that was it we should have left,” said Christian.

Things fell apart for the Frogs from that point.

Cougar guard Jackson Emery hit a three pointer with a little over eight minutes left to tie the game 29-29. BYU took the lead for good at the 6:48 mark and never looked back from there.

The Cougars finished the first half on a 28-14 run and lead 57-43. BYU outscored TCU in the second half 50-34.

The Frogs were hot in the first half shooting over 59 percent from the field and 66 percent from three-point land. They shot 49 percent from the filed for the game.

Turnover and poor defense proved to be the key factors in the loss. TCU had 24 turnovers in the game. BYU scored 32 points off of turnovers.

The Cougars shot over 62 percent in the game and shot 72 percent in the second half. They also made over 50 percent off their three pointers.

It was senior night for the Frogs. Seniors Edvinas Ruzgas, Zvonko Buljan and Keion Mitchem played their last game in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Sophomore guard Ronnie Moss was the leading scorer for the Frogs with 17 points.

BYU had 61 bench points in the game. Jonathan Tavernari and Charles Abouo each scored over 20 off the bench.

TCU has rematch with the Cougars Thursday in the Mountain West tournament.
