The freshman leadership group Frog Aides will provide an evening of entertainment tonight with its fifth annual spring project, Froggo Italiano.
Traci Clayton, a senior strategic communication major and co-director of the organization, said the event will feature a gourmet pizza and pasta bar, an Italian soda bar and gelato from Paciugo. Performances will include a Frank Sinatra impersonator, Tim Halperin and TCU Elite Dance, which is a competitive dance club on campus.
Saman Sadeghi, a freshman political science major and Frog Aides member, described the event as portraying Italian American culture from the 1920s to 1940s.
“Our focus for Froggo Italiano is to be a setting where all TCU students come together for a night of entertainment,” Sadeghi said. “We expect a big turnout.”
Jacob Barnes, senior international finance major and Frog Aides co-director, said prizes such as gift certificates to local restaurants will be raffled off throughout the event. Clayton said Frog Aides will also be giving away tickets to a Dallas Mavericks game and the Fort Worth Zoo.
Barnes said the raffle will cost $1 per ticket to enter and the proceeds will be donated to earthquake relief in Haiti. Students will also be able to give to Haitian victims by tossing change in a fountain that will be at the event, he said.
Clayton said the freshmen in Frog Aides create an event for university students every year, and this year they were given $10,000 for that purpose. The freshmen in Frog Aides have worked hard this year in order to make the event a success, she said.
“We think this will be the most successful event Frog Aides has had so far,” Clayton said.
Projects such as Froggo Italiano have been in existence since Frog Aides was created five years ago, Clayton said. Freshmen are open to decide what to create as long as it is directed toward the student body.
