A memorial service will be held for 21-year-old Sri Rama Chandra Murthy Vempati, a student who died this morning due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
The service will take place in the Tucker Technology Center Room 139 at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Vempati, best known as Sri, died at about 10 a.m. this morning when he was taken off life support in the trauma ICU at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s report, the death was caused by complications from injuries that occurred during a car accident.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Vempati was the driver in the one-vehicle collision that occurred on Forest Park Boulevard Sunday morning.
Vempati, a senior from India, was a triple major in biochemistry, computer information technology and mathematics, according to an e-mail from Don Mills, vice chancellor of student affairs. He also worked at the Computer Help Desk in the library.
Friends and classmates have covered his Facebook wall with messages, memories and prayers to mourn their loss.
According to Mill’s e-mail, the university will offer counseling services through the Counseling Center, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and the Office of Campus Life.
