A new Career Services application for the iTCU suite allows users portability and ease in obtaining career advice, a Student Affairs official said.
Director of Student Affairs Marketing Susan Nethery said the application launched as part of the iTCU application suite Tuesday. It is available and free to all users of the iTCU application.
Previously, content found in the Career Services application was only available online or in the Career Services office. However the application offers information ranging from interviewing tips to dining etiquette for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Eric Shulman, a junior marketing major, said his favorite feature was the interview preparation module.
“It’s very applicable to me as I have to get a job soon,” he said.
Nethery said she hoped users would be able to use its information to secure jobs and have successful interviews. She said the application is another platform for Career Services to reach potential job applicants.
Shulman said the application is an easier way for people to receive information from Career Services.
“It’s right on your phone and you don’t have to walk all the way across campus,” he said.
Nethery said another great feature of the application is the convenience it offers.
“[It] would be reaching students and alumni where they are most of the time…their cell phone, iPhone or laptop,” she said.
The application is something they can pull up quickly and get the information, she said.
For Grace Hughston, a junior marketing major, having the information on her phone is more about ease than anything, she said.
“Going to an office and making an appointment is very difficult for some,” she said. “[The application] would be more accessible for a lot of students.”
