TCU first-team All-Americans Wayne Daniels and Jake Kirkpatrick will play for Team Texas in the Feb. 5 NFL Players Association Game at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Kirkpatrick, the Rimington Trophy winner as the nation’s top center, is currently in Mobile, Ala., at the Senior Bowl.
Daniels led TCU’s 2011 Rose Bowl championship team with 14 tackles for loss and 6 1/2 sacks from his defensive end position. Daniels and TCU quarterback Andy Dalton were the only two unanimous first-team All-Mountain West Conference selections this season.
Daniels closed his TCU career by recording two tackles for loss among six stops in the 21-19 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin. He opened the season with two sacks in a 30-21 victory over Oregon State.
A Kilgore, Texas, native, Daniels was instrumental in TCU leading the nation in total defense for a third straight season.
Kirkpatrick did not commit a penalty or allow a sack this season. He set the blocking scheme on each play for the Horned Frogs.
In addition to winning the Rimington Trophy, Kirkpatrick was the lone offensive player to be one of four finalists for the Rotary Lombardi Award.
Kirkpatrick was the anchor of an offensive line that enabled TCU to set single-season school records for touchdowns (73), points scored (541), first downs (327) and total offense (6,199 yards).
