Junior Victoria Lee and senior Kelsey Huffman both claimed MVP honors Sunday, but No. 5 TCU dropped a 7-5 decision to No. 8 Baylor on the final day of competition at the fifth annual Best in the West Tournament.

The Horned Frogs, who moved to 5-3 on the season, lost a 3-3 decision in Hunt Seat, falling to the Bears in overall points, 463-415. TCU won Equitation over Fences, 2-1, but could only manage one point in Equitation on the Flat Sunday at Fresno State’s Student Horse Center.

In Equitation over Fences, Lee, from Cordova, Tenn., led all competitors Sunday, downing Kara Fergusson, 84-83. With the win, Lee garnered her first MVP accolade of the season. Fellow junior Taylor Frederick was the only other Frog to score a point in the event, upending Taylor Brown, 77-74.

Senior Milana Trimino tallied a point for the Purple and White on the Flat, defeating Brown, 68-63.

On the Western side, the Frogs dropped a 4-2 decision to the Bears. Huffman completed a perfect 3-0 record on the weekend in Reining, downing Olivia Rogers, 70.5-68. For the tournament, the California native captured two MVP honors and moved her season record to 6-1 in Reining. Kelly Morris appeared to have given TCU another point in the event, but she dropped a 68-67 decision to Amber Mooney.

Lexie Estrada garnered the lone point for TCU in Horsemanship, defeating Chelsea Retmeir.

The Purple and White will next be in action on Sunday, March 6 at Delaware State.
