Frogs in ninth place at PING/ASU Invitational

Frogs’ junior Brooke Beeler’s 71 and senior Prisela Campbell’s 72 keyed second-round play for TCU Saturday as the Horned Frogs are ninth at the PING/ASU Invitational.

Campbell is tied for 10th individually. The senior from Fossil Ridge High School in Keller, Texas, is at 1-under-par 143 through 36 holes. She is four strokes off the lead held by UCLA’s Stephanie Kono and Madison Pressel from Texas. They are at 5-under 139.

Beeler had back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes. She recorded three birdies on the day and is tied for 23rd heading into Sunday’s final round.

TCU shot a 296, lowering its score by one stroke from Friday’s opening round and is at 593.

Top-ranked USC and No. 2 UCLA share the team lead at 565, eight strokes ahead of No. 25 Texas.

Junior Rachel Raastad shot par on 14 of 18 holes and contributed a 76 for TCU.

Freshman Sanna Nuutinen birdied three consecutive holes en route to a team-best five birdies on the day. The Helsinki, Finland, native totaled a 77.
