FORT WORTH, Texas – The NCAA Baseball Regional brackets were announced Monday on ESPN. The TCU Horned Frogs, hosting their third regional in as many years, will face the region’s four-seed, Oral Roberts on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
The other game in the Fort Worth Regional will see No. 2 Oklahoma versus No. 3 Dallas Baptist. That contest will be at 2 p.m. on Friday. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, June 3 and run through Monday.
For the first time in school history, the Frogs have earned eight straight trips to the NCAA Regionals. This is the Frogs 10th overall trip to the regionals. The previous seven trips came in 1956, 1994, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. They are one of just 13 teams to appear in each of the last eight regionals. TCU is one of just six schools (Cal State Fullerton, Georgia Tech, Florida, Arizona State and Texas) to host each of the last three seasons.
The winner of the Fort Worth Regional will play the winner of the Houston (Rice) Regional in the Super Regionals. The four teams in that region include, the host school, Rice, Baylor, California and Alcorn State.
The Mountain West Conference sends multiple teams for the third straight season as New Mexico earned the league’s automatic bid and will be the fourth seed in the Tempe Regional. The Lobos will face the region’s No. 1 seed, Arizona State.
