TCU junior pitcher Kyle Winkler became the third Horned Frog drafted on day two of the MLB First-Year Player Draft. The Arizona D’Backs made him their 10th-round pick and the 304th selection overall.
Since his arrival on campus three years ago, Kyle Winkler has been a staple on the mound. He has made 50 appearances and started 46 games (the fourth-most starts in school history). The junior has a career record of 27-6. The 27 victories are tied for the third most with Scott Atchison.
In 281 innings pitched, Winkler fanned 239 batters and posted a 2.95 ERA. The Horned Frogs were 32-14 in his 46 starts and 35-15 in his 50 appearances on the mound. He is a two-time all-conference member as well as being selected as a third-team All-American this season.
Also drafted on day two was Matt Purke (3rd round, Washington) and Taylor Featherston (5th round, Colorado).
