After holding a share of the 54-hole lead at one-under in the US Women's Open, it looked like Horned Frog alumna Angela Stanford was in prime position to get her first major championship as a professional.

Unfortunately, a few mistakes at the end of an exhausting 32 holes of golf Sunday ended up crushing those hopes, as the Saginaw native finished in fourth place with a score of even par, three strokes behind the eventual champion So Yeon Ryu.

The tournament, held at Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs, was plagued by several weather delays that forced golfers to play more than the normal 18-hole round. Stanford, along with several other golfers, had to wait until Monday morning to finish their last holes of the final round.

After posting a three-under 33 on the front nine, lowering her score to four-under for the championship, Stanford bogeyed three holes and had one double bogey along with only one birdie on the back nine.

Stanford has had a history with Broadmoor. When the U.S Open was held at the same course eight years earlier, Stanford finished tied for second, her best finish in a major championship to date.
