No arrests have been made on the third and most recent sexual assault charge, Officer D.N. Martinez of the Fort Worth Police Department said.

Sgt. Kelly Ham sent an e-mail Friday August 26 to all TCU students and staff saying Fort Worth police noticed TCU of an off campus assault by a known acquaintance.

This is the third sexual assault since Aug 18. 

According to TCU police website, there were 6 forcible sex offenses in 2009; in 2010 there was only one.

Questions forwarded to Susan Adams, University Sexual Harassment Officer, could not be answered.

Different from previous cases, Fort Worth Police are investigating the third sexual assault.

According to statistics released from the New York University Student Health Center, 52 percent of rapes and sexual assaults are committed after midnight, while 37 percent occur between 6 pm and midnight.

According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, an estimated one in eight college women are raped.

In 85 percent of these assaults, the victim knew their attacker, according to The National Center for Victims of Crime.

The crime alerts sent by Sgt. Kelly Ham  include a list of safety precautions, dos, and don’ts.

The TCU Police Department  is offering two separate Rape Aggression Defense classes in September and October.

RAD classes are designed to teach women self-defense tactics and techniques as well as personal safety tips.
